Casper came to us from a local sale barn whom had purchased Casper to work the cattle/sheep, but he wouldn't. Casper is SPECIAL NEEDS - he is DEAF. Casper is all white with a small patch of grey on his rump. He has one blue eye, one brown eye. Casper weighs approximately 30 pounds and is still growing. He will likely be 40-45 pounds when full grown. Casper has been vet checked, vaccinated, neutered, heartworm tested negative, microchipped, and has started his flea/tick/heartworm preventatives. Casper has been introduced to other dogs, both large and small, and he does fairly well. Casper sometimes can play a little rough. He will back off if given correction, but he should be supervised around smaller dogs and cats too, just to make sure he doesn't accidently hurt the smaller ones. Casper will need continued socialization and guidance from you so he can learn when he is pushing too hard. He's a smart boy and with guidance from you, he would do well with other dogs and cats in his new home. Casper is super friendly and loves to meet new people. Sometimes he is a bit over-excited when meeting people and may jump up. He does know to stay down, but sometimes he just can't help himself! Casper would do best with children ages 10+years so they understand that he is deaf and cannot sneak up or startle him. Casper will need continued work to learn that he cannot startle and snap, but to just look first. He is doing well with this training in his current foster home. Casper is very smart and tries hard to please, but he is still a puppy and he is easily distracted as well. Casper has been learning sign language and knows how to come, sit, down, stay down (don't jump) and he also knows the signals for no, outside, and bath. He is also working on the stay command and smile command. Casper is kennel trained and partially housetrained. He sometimes forgets to notify you that he needs outside, but overall he's very good. Casper is also working on his leash manners. Casper needs a home who understands him and all the challenges that he faces. Please do your research FIRST as we are seeking the best home for Casper.
